(RTTNews) - Italy recorded a current account deficit of 5 billion euros in August, up from the 4.2 billion euro-deficit in the same month in 2009, figures released by the Bank of Italy showed on Monday.

The goods account deficit doubled to 2.2 billion euros from 1 billion euros in August 2009, and the services account deficit rose to 1.3 billion euros from 711 million euros.
