What would you recommend? I'm especially interested in books defending the EO position against the claims of other Christian bodies presenting themselves as the one true Church (Assyrian, OO and Catholic).

Hi All,

Save me from creating a new thread with the exact subject.

What are some really helpful Orthodox Apologetic books ? Wherever I look online or in a library there is an non-orthodox but christian of course resource of apologetics.

What are some of the most helpful Christian Orthodox Apologetic books out there?.

Thank you : )

Clark Carlson does a good job.  He used to have a podcast program on Ancient Faith Radio but I haven't visited them in a while.

Ravi Zacharias, although a Protestant from India, does a fantastic job defeating atheist claims.

I like Ravi, but he really needs to stay away from the thermodynamics stuff......it makes him look like an idiot, which he is not.

I know lots of apologetics from the early Church, but I'm assuming you're wanting something from modern times, primarily dealing with Catholics and Protestants?

How about this site?

Orthodox Apologetic Theology By professor Ivan M. Andreyev of the Holy Trinity Seminary:
http://www.holytrinitymission.org/books/english/apologetics.htm

Quote
Religious delusions (paganism, pantheism, atheism, etc.) appear in the history of mankind just as early as other delusions (scientific, philosophic, political, etc.). We find refutations of them in profound antiquity. For instance, in the book Wisdom of Solomon, there are elements of cosmological proofs of the existence of God, and a historical refutation of the falsity of idol worship. In general, the Bible concerned itself very little with questions of proof of the existence of God since in biblical times very few doubted the existence of God. Belief in God then was so clear and strong that every doubt in His existence seemed simply lunatic or another form of psychic abnormality and irrationality.

You can find most of these texts at the following sites:

St. Cyril of Jerusalem - Second Epistle to Nestorius
St. Cyril of Jerusalem - Third Epistle to Nestorius
St. Cyril of Jerusalem - Epistle to John of Antioch

Alexandria*

That being said, Cyril of Jerusalem does have quite a few sections defending orthodoxy against the heresies of his time in his Catechetical Lectures.

I have read most of these, but haven't read them in many years, so I'm not positive of the contents anymore, and I'm not sure which ones will have exactly what you're after, if any of them do. But, fwiw, here are the places I'd start...

St. Justin Martyr - Dialogue With Trypho
Pseudo-Barnabas - Epistle of Barnabas
Tertullian - An Answer to the Jews
St. Cyprian of Carthage - Three Books of Testimonies Against the Jews (Book 1) (Book 2) (Book 3)
St. Ambrose of Milan - Letter 77: To Horontianus
St. John Chrysostom - Eight Homilies Against the Jews

Are there any books from an Orthodox Christian point of regarding Christology in the Old Testament - I have come across a Messianic Jew - Known as Dr. Brown - He has written a few books focusing on such as Answering Jewish Objections To Jesus - Volume 1 to Volume 4 Has anyone read his books ?.

Are there any similar written from our Faith regarding the Messiah in the Old Testament.

Thanks

A book I really liked, and believed to be very informative is Common Ground: An Introduction to Eastern Christianity for the American Christian Jordan Bajis
