Riverside Orthodox church will be "outpost of heaven."

Amid the noise, dust and strewn-about electrical cords of the construction project for Riverside's St. Andrew Orthodox Christian Church stood four tall bearded men in black.

The four monks, visiting Riverside from their Colorado monastery, were painstakingly painting a scene of Jesus offering communion to his disciples and trying to remain in a devotional frame of mind...

My favorite line from the article:

Gregory, 65, is the leader of the small Genuine Orthodox Church of America, which is identical in most ways to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church that St. Andrew is affiliated with.

I don't mean to offend or criticize any Old Calendarists but is it just me or does anyone else find that little funny that an Old Calendarist archbishop is painting icons for a New Calendarist parish. angel I mean, it is completely understandable and acceptable but still a New Calendarist parish. I can imagine how awkward situation can be if some overly zealous parishioner happen to open their mouth in a wrong time... Grin
