So what?  Many great bishops, priests and monks have come from all sorts of backgrounds from the very pious to the most fervently anti-Christian.  They have chosen to finish the race quite differently from how they began and that is what matters.

It's worth mentioning to our Western readership that the movements of Russian "hippies" that began in teh dying days of Communism, though similar in many ways, is not the same as the North American and European hippies of the 1960s. The Russian culture is mainly centered around open-air music festivals and lacks the same degree of drug use and open sexuality as the experiments of the 1960s.
