To mark the forefeast of the Exaltation of the Cross ~~

From the golden centuries when Ireland was Orthodox and church art
flourished abundantly. Bishops had their own personal craftsmen.

A beautifully-illustrated article on the Tully Lough Cross.

The cross is an 8th-or 9th-century Irish altar cross

It was recovered from a lake in County Roscommon in the 1980s.
