Back when we discussed John Crowder, I thought I had seen the very worst that Protestantism had to offer. I now am forced to revise said opinion because of the Wine Barrel Family Church. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPzDfq1Lf_g&feature=player_embedded This is the link to their "church" website: http://www.winebarrelchurch.com/I have never seen such blasphemous nonsense. Be warned: this is hardcore stupidity and heresy!

I wouldn't even bet on that! This guy acts like he has some sort of neurological deficiency in addition to a theological deficiency which is obvious.

I know some of you converts come from the south. I'm just wondering is Protestantism really like the Borat movie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrTWJo7a9l0

Excellence of character, then, is a state concerned with choice, lying in a mean relative to us, this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it. Now it is a mean between two vices, that which depends on excess and that which depends on defect.

This guy acts like he has some sort of neurological deficiency... I'm guessing Tourette Syndrome. In just the first few minutes (I didn't watch the whole thing), he exhibited several tics.

That is definitely Tourette's, but I also think that he's found a way to cover up his condition and even plays it up a bit.
He has a bit of a good point, too. Many Christians (myself, included) do not see the glory of God around them and even go out of their way to avoid it because to recognize it would be to recognize the whole truth of Divine Revelation, including their own sinfulness.
I seriously also wonder how many people in the congregation are there to see what he'll do next.

The reason most of us don't see the glory of God around us is that we have not received the grace to see it. Study the accounts of the Transfiguration, and Motovilov's conversation with St. Seraphim of Sarov to get a glimpse of the conditions under which we actually get to see all things clearly without necessarily having to undergo a lifetime of monastic spiritual labor.

I'm not talking about the Uncreated Light. I'm talking about our inability or undesire to see the simple things of life as manifestations of God. I'm talking about accepting everything that comes to us as coming from God. We are too quick to take things for granted.

What makes you think Asperger's?

Being AS/HFA, I, also, would be interested to know that. I can usually spot Asperger's a mile away; if this guy has it, it's pretty well masked by the Tourette's and his weird theology.

I think I could probably recognize Asperger Syndrome, a.k.a. the Geek Syndrome, if I saw its manifestations, since I've studied it a bit and see much of it in myself. It's not so much something I'd expect to see in on-stage behavior as I would in how a person interacts with others in social situations. Asperger Syndrome and other autism spectrum disorders strike me as being social disorders more than anything else.

Please note I said "a touch of Asperger's" The weird noises he was making reminded me of one person I saw who had the syndrome--I thought it was a part of his syndrome but it could have been unrelated. That's all--no offense to anyone, I hope.

Whatever good points he could be making, I immediately felt that there was some barrier between him and me, just because he was behaving in such a disorderly, silly, inane fashion. But then, a very similar barrier appears when I hear Billy Graham preaching, albeit for a different reason - because I feel anger and lack of compassion in Graham. It does not matter to me WHAT people say when this barrier is out there.
