The priest at my church pulled me aside last night and let me know that we need to set a date for my Christmation - that I am ready. He said that late October - early November would be good. And the difference between JOY and excitement is HUGE. I think I'll take JOY over excitement any day of the week. I am 47 years old. I've looked for this all of my life. Nothing else ever satisfied so much as finding the Living Water in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. My Patron Saint will be St. Photini, the woman at the well.

I know what you mean about looking for it all your life. Fr. Stephen Freeman said something to that effect. Here's a paraphrase: "I've been Orthodox all my life, I just didn't know it until I was in my 40's".

Blessed news! Many years! Remember that with new birth come new struggles; but God's grace is most profoundly present in the midst of struggles, and our suffering is worth the reward. It is better to struggle and fall than to never struggle at all. Selam

Thank you! I don't have a date set as of yet. . .but from what I understand, the priest of my church is very careful about setting dates - and to be patient. . .that he will give me the date as soon as he sets it. My sponsor says she's ready, that she has everything she needs for me the day I am Christmated - and that I had better NOT change my patron saint!! **laughing** I'm in the process of making what I will wear. . .finding white at this time of the year is next to impossible. . . even in buying MATERIAL and not and actual dress. So, I did the best I could, but the top is not solid white, but a white background with a (actually very pretty) rose print on the top of it. I'm still looking around for a suitable white blouse, and if I find one, I'll purchase it and forgo making the top. Spiritually preparing? I'm not sure . . .what to do. . .seems at this point that I'm not to do much of anything? But wait and do. . . ?

Did your priest encourage you to wear white? Wait...and pray. I did call my priest and talked to him about it. I told him that I found a heavy enough material for the skirt that is white, but the blouse was a real problem - he told me that this is 'traditional' to wear white, but if there's an issue, it certainly isn't a MUST. I will take your suggestion (waiting and praying) . . .it's funny how things just pop up right at the right time. I would personally prefer to wear all white if I can do it.

I remembered clothes my sister gave to me when I was out in California - one very pretty white shell with lace on the front. I tried it on with the skirt I just made - perfect. I also found a white pair of shoes I bought over a year ago and have never worn!! **smacks head** Guess I'm going to wear white after all!! (Someone's been pokin' in my closet to put these things where I'd see them!! **looks up and smiles a huge 'thank you' smile**)

I'd just like to add that the moment your priest uttered the word "Chrismation" to you will forever be etched in your mind and heart! I can remember when my priest asked me. he and his family gave me a ride (I am 16) to another Church for our pan-Orthodox vespers. all of the sudden, he pops the question: "So, Trevor, have you given any thought to entering the Church?" I think that he giggled a bit after this, as I'd been asking about joining since day 1!!!!! all I could say was "Yes!" I'm afraid that I answered him in a bit of a loud tone, but I think he senced the sheer JOY in my voice!!!
You are so right!! I think I even can recall the temperature of the air!! My priest did that same giggle . . .as I had been sitting on my hands trying to wait very patiently . . . and he knew it was all I could do to be patient about it! I had that same YES!!!
