Audio Books?
« on: August 26, 2010, 09:37:22 PM »
Could anyone recommend some places to obtain Orthodox audio books?  My brother has recently become interested in Orthodoxy and has almost no time to read but plenty of time to listen to cd's while he drives for work.  In particular I'd like a book like "The Orthodox Church" or other good comprehensive introductions.  Thank you for your help!

There's not much that is specifically Orthodox at this site http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/ but you may find something interesting.

You might also want to check out Ancient Faith Radio for podcasts that can be used on an iPod (or generic equivalent) or easily burned onto CDs. In fact, I might suggest that route as there are podcasts that do appeal to inquirers.

Thank you for the suggestion!  I recently put together a CD of podcasts from Ancient Faith Radio, and Our Life in Christ, to get him started.  Are there any particular ones you would recommend?

"At the Intersection of East and West" is a recording of what amounts to be a Sunday School class for recent converts and inquirers. It's pretty basic and clear, even as a review for the long time Orthodox. If your friend is well-versed in a tradition that appreciates "good, solid, Bible-preaching" he may like anything by Fr Thomas Hopko. You would want to check through podcast titles to find something appropriate.
