What is the new nature?
« on: August 03, 2010, 04:36:51 AM »
What is exactly the new nature we say we take in Jesus?

1- How is it different from Adam's state before his fall?
2- Would Adam die, had he NOT made his sin?
3- Jesus took a body from our nature, to be just like us...yet we do SIN and DIE...and Jesus did not sin. Is his (human) nature different? But if it is, then how can he be counted equivalent to us, and thus be qualified as a redeemer?
4- What are the differences between Jesus, Adam before the fall, our nature after the fall? (dying, ability to sin, weakness, illness, hunger, instincts... etc)?

5- What does baptism and chrismation exactly give to us?
6- Why do we still fall in our new nature?

I would suggest reading "The Life in Christ" by Nicholas Cabasilas.

Dears, let me add this question...it proved essential for this discussion:

7- Was Jesus vulnerable to illness? Was Adam so before his fall? And after the fall? and after our baptism (new nature) ?
