(Dateline: OC.net Palace) After recalling the servants from the OC.net Palace/Brewpub/Bowling Alley official Tender, Fr. Chris and the other Moderators discovered that 4 times the usual amount of wood for the "election white smoke" was placed in the special Moderator Election Blast-furnace and Bread Oven. They rushed out to the balcony with the newly elected mod only to find the crowd obscured by a London-esque thick fog of white smoke. Taking advantage of the anonymity, they proclaimed the following while wearing their favorite cartoon character masks:
"We are pleased to announce the election of a new moderator who will primarily (but not exclusively) be watching over the forum during the oft-neglected US night-time hours. He is a man of exceptional character and humility, and we are now proud to call him the OC.net "Night Watchman,"
Mike!"
And the crowd erupted in their customary cry of "AXIOI! AXIOI! AXIOI!"

How does this work now..is he in charge of all the moderated forums during the evenings? Do we still send requests to the regular moderator or to him, during the evenings?

The "Report to Moderator" function merely sends a report to the entire moderator team, leaving the option of who will respond either to the first moderator to read the report or the moderator of the section from which the report was generated. If mike is the first to see the report, I imagine it will be up to his discretion whether and how to respond.

Wow...I think that's the first time that's ever been explained (at least from what i've seen). May I recommend that this goes on the "forum rules" stickie? Also, has the moderator list been updated (the stickie?) Thanks for the succinct answer!

I don't care for the Grateful Dead, but I love Dead Guy Ale! I also like Rogue Shakespear Stout. BTW, has anyone heard that King James dedicated the KJV to William Shakespear? If you read Psalm 46 in the KJV and count 46 words down you will come to the word "shake," and if you count 46 words up from the bottom you will come to the word "spear." Shakespear died when he was 46 years old. Pretty weird huh? OK, that probably needed to be on "random postings," and not here. Sorry for going off course. Selam

You couldn't just walk into any convenience store and expect to find it, but Dead Guy is at all the specialty shops and a couple of the upscale grocery stores too. As for the Shakespeare thing, the King James Version was written in 1611, and Shakespeare died in 1616. So for the theory to be true, King James would have to have been not only a clever codesmith but also a prophet! It is, however, likely that Shakespeare had a hand in the writing of the KJV, as he was considered one of the premier writers of his day, along with Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe, and all three of them were accustomed to writing plays and other works on commission from the King. Unfortunately, the actual authors are unknown, not having been recorded (as far as we know).

You know, Malcolm X theorized that King James and Shakespeare were one and the same person. (Not saying I belive in any of these things, but it's interesting.) Selam

That theory could only be held by one completely ignorant of history. King James VI of Scotland (1566-1625) began his reign when he was only thirteen months old, so we have very detailed records of his life from a very young age. He never left Scotland until 1603, when he traveled to London to assume the throne of England and Ireland, becoming the first King of Great Britain and Ireland--a title he himself invented. Likewise Shakespeare (1564-1616) was no commoner, being the son of an alderman. We have his baptismal and scholastic records, and we know that in his life he only ever lived in Stratford and London, and that he never left England at all. These are just a few among the myriad of historical evidence we have of both these great men. Perhaps Malcolm X should have checked his facts before making such a ridiculous statement.
