Dear folks,
Please, say a prayer for my family, especially for my mother-in-law, and wife, and wife's sister, and other relatives.
My wife and I are in Ukraine currently, and we just returned from visiting my mother-in-law (my wife Lesya's mother) at a mental institution. My mother-in-law, Maria, is 79, and she is suffering from dementia (senile psychosis). At the moment, her physical condition seems stable, and, thank God and doctors, mentally she is more or less taken care of, in that she does not show much aggressiveness; however, she is absolutely confused, cannot sort out who of her visitors is in what relations with her, makes up long and absolutely fantastic stories about what she was doing yesterday or ten minutes ago, etc.
The doctor told us, rather bluntly, that there will never be any improvement, and that Maria will die right there, in the hospital (or at home if relatives pick her up at the terminal stage - but he does not recommend picking her up right now). There is no telling, just where does this terminal stage comes - it may happen tomorrow or a month or a year from now, God only knows.
Please pray that God gives my family strength to deal with this challenge, and please pray that Maria's life will end peacefully and without suffering or shame.

I'm sorry to hear this, Heorhij. It's good that Maria is getting good care, but I'm sure it is traumatizing and difficult to accept everything.
My prayers go out to Maria, Lesya, Miraslava, and everyone else in the family. Lord, have mercy!

Heorhij, my grandmother has the same problem. Though physically she is in good health, she is slowly deteriorating away mentally. It pains me when she doesn't remember me when I call her and even more so if I even get the chance to visit her and seems to have regressed to a mindset where she is still living in Germany as a young girl. I pray the Lord gives you and your family strength to carry the burden this situation presents. It's nothing short of difficult and easy to despair.

Thank you all so much for the prayers. Lesya and I decided to limit our visits to not more than twice a week, because Maria becomes emotionally disturbed when she sees us, even though she still cannot recall who Lesya is.
