Dear ones, could you please mention in your prayers a wonderful man who died a few days ago in Kyiv, Ukraine. Serhiy Borysovych Kryms'kyj (1930-2010) was a well-known philosopher, author of several books. He was a professor at Hryhoriy S. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Earlier today, I was quite amazed to read on a Ukrainian Web site that he is considered "the last in the chain of great Kyiv Sophiologists" (http://risu.org.ua/ua/index/exclusive/events_people/36372/).

Not being a philosopher, I cannot judge about Serhiy Borysovych's scholarly heritage, but I remember him as a very close, faithful friend of my parents. He was one of the biggest "idols" of my childhood because he always kept cracking jokes and could make everybody laugh. He was a true Kyivite, always in love with the city where he lived, a man who knew every stone on every Kyiv street. Serhiy Borysovych was married; his wife, Inna, died a few years ago. They were childless, but until at least the mid 1980-s kept a dog, a beagle called Alpha, who was their most beloved baby.
