I've made three posts so far and each time I get an error message "Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator."  even though the post has been put up.

Something seems to be quirky with some part of the site.

I've noticed the same thing with every post I've submitted since last night.

I've been getting it, too.  I've also been getting it when I click on someone's name and try to view their profile.

I'm also experiencing this as well as something else.

When I initially type a post into the reply box, all is well; however, if I go back to modify it, the text in the reply box jumps (for lack of a better word) and I sometimes have to do the editing almost blindly. If the post is long enough one has to scroll down to see the text being edited, the lines of text that are below the bottom line of the posting box refuse to remain in site - being visible only when I am striking keys. (I know that explanation is hard to follow, but it's the best I can do.)

Ecafe and OCnet are on the same server since I own them both. There was something going wrong with the interaction between mysql and http.  I reset both processes and we'll see if that works. I will keep an eye on it today.

However, this may be an issue of compatibility with Internet Explorer 8 (assuming that's what you're using), which is likely not at all connected with what posters on this thread have been talking about.  Here's a thread where something similar to your observations have been noted:

Thanks, Peter. Yes, I'm cursed with IE8, but was operating in compatibility mode (discovered that issue a while back). Interestingly, the problem has disappeared with the fix by Father Anastasios.

I find this very frustrating: Two days in a row, I would post something, and then look later only to find that it never actually posted.  It's really frustrating to spend so much time and thought into something only to have it disappear.  And then you can't back-page either, because it will just come up blank.

btw, I've learned to copy the entire post, before posting.  That way when the error occurs, I just paste and repost.

I'm sorry you lost some posts; I have had that happen, and it is very frustrating, I agree.

The best thing to do with long posts is to save them to a text file before you actually post, and then immediately review the thread after it's posted to make sure you message is there. If it's not, then you can copy/paste your text from the text file again.

IE8 enjoys breaking things.  A little while ago Microsoft provided a fix for the problem, then in the next release of IE8, broke it...

The best thing anyone could do is to simply stop using Internet Explorer and use Firefox or Chrome.

"Bookmarks" is Internet Tradition though, going back to the original Netscape Navigator (which, in turn, is the father of Firefox).  Tongue

It still boggles my mind that IE still fails the Acid3 test so... completely.  ~20/100?  That means the browser on the PS3 is more robust when it comes to rendering standardised models.

I haven't used it. In fact, until Google stops collecting so much personal information I avoid using any of their programs. I use Firefox and I opt out of all "Help make this program better" scams that are really just corporations' way of absolving their liability while they go phishing.
