I think I'll make this a sticky. Also, I would like the purpose to be broader, to include other resources on the Oriental Orthodox besides theology, including history and culture. And please, when someone posts a link, don't just make it a bare link. Please give a short explanation of what the link is about.

OK, now for the important stuff: http://www.recipehound.com/Recipes/armenia.htmlArmenian recipes. Since Oriental Orthodox cuisine is the best in the world, I'm going to ask our posters here to not hold back, but link to other recipe sources, if they exist. (We should definitely get some converts out of this. )

Dear Salpy,
Do know a good Armenian Church in NJ that has a huge bookstore in their church, that might include something like HH Catholicos Karekin's "The Council of Chalcedon and the Armenian Church"?

You can find the churches in New Jersey here: http://www.armenianchurch.net/parishes/index.phpYou may want to try calling them. Also, Fr. Shnork Souin's church I think is in New Jersey. You also may want to contact St. Vartan Bookstore, above.

It also has Fr. V.C.Samuel's The Council of Chalcedon Re-Examined, which is an excellent resource for understanding the Council of Chalcedon, and the various Christological issues involved, from an Oriental Orthodox point of view.
Agreed. It makes some slightly questionable claims, but that only constitutes about 1% of it. Also, CoptoGreek, I would recommend that you not look to me just because I am assertive and opinionated, for I am not even an initiated member of the Oriental churches.

I was just at the Western Diocese in Burbank, and they have copies of the above book. The bookstore manager is Sergey: http://www.armenianchurchwd.com/diocesan-staff/

The Coptic Orthodox Electronic Publishing Australia website has loads of docs for download: http://www.coepaonline.org/. Even better if you can get The Christian Orthodox e-Reference Library which they publish: http://www.coepaonline.org/products.php?nav=products&page=coerl. I have many more links I can post when I get home to my laptop which browser has them bookmarked.

I apologize for the lateness of this post, I didn't see this thread until now. Fwiw, here is a list of books that I compiled back when I was exploring the Oriental Orthodox/Eastern Orthodox dialogues (though I didn't end up buying most of them)... I subtracted the books from the list that were of a traditionalist or solely Eastern Orthodox tone/content...
A History of Christianity in Asia: Beginnings to 1500 Among the Copts The Arab Christian: A History in the Middle East Christ in Christian Tradition - From the Council of Chalcedon (451) to Gregory the Great (590-604) Christ in East and West Christ in Eastern Christian Thought Christians in the Arab East: A Political Study The Christological Controversy The Church of the East: Apostolic & Orthodox The Church of the East: An Illustrated History of Assyrian Christianity Committed to Christian Unity The Council of Chalcedon Reexamined Cyril of Alexandria Does Chalcedon Divide or Unite?: Towards Convergence in Orthodox Christology The Early Coptic Papacy: The Egyptian Church and Its Leadership in Late Antiquity The Empress Theodora: Partner of Justinian The Ethiopian Tewahedo Church: An Integrally African Church The History of the Patriarchs of the Coptic Orthodox Church to 849 AD Imperial Unity And Christian Divisions: The Church from 450-680 A.D. The Importance and Contribution of the Oriental Orthodox Churches Justinian and the Making of the Syrian Orthodox Church On the Unity of Christ Oriental Orthodox-Roman Catholic Inter-Orthodox Discussion Prayers from the East: Traditions of Eastern Christianity Restoring the Unity in Faith: The Orthodox-Oriental Orthodox Theological Dialogue: An Introduction with Texts The Selected Letters of St Severus Severus of Antioch St. Cyril of Alexandria: The Christological Controversy : Its History, Theology, and Texts Towards a Common Christology Towards Unity: The Theological Dialogue Between The Orthodox Church And The Oriental Orthodox Churches Two Thousand Years of Coptic Christianity What is the Christian Orient? Your will be done: Orthodoxy in mission : CWME consultation of Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches
Most or all of these books should be available through Amazon (or in the cases of a few, Lulu)

"Spiritual Literature" page of the Ararat Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Most of the material is available in Armenian, but there are also a few resources in English and Russian. The Armenian section is a gold mine for anyone interested. http://araratian-tem.am/literature.php?id=6

Are there any good books specifically about the historic development of the Coptic liturgy? I am willing to read about other OO liturgies, but at the moment I am primarily [intellectually] curious about the Coptic.

Aghapy, This is a link to the site of the Southern United States Diocese. It's extensive in its articles comprising theology, faith, history, etc. http://suscopts.org/resources/literature/Also, this is a link from the same site that has a question and answer section containing hundreds of questions from different people, all answered by H.G Bishop Youssef who is the bishop of the diocese. http://www.suscopts.org/q&a/

would be nice if there were an OO version of www.ancientfaith.com or www.myocn.net Or if there were a way to get OO segways in there... I know a man involved in Ancient Faith who said he thinks they would be open to the idea... Im actually surprised that the copts dont have anything being as technologically focused as they are :-p, maybe they do and its just not in English too lol

Probably the closest thing to Ancient Faith Radio for the Copts would be http://orthodoxsermons.org/, though it's mostly sermons from St. Mark's in Washington D.C. (its place of origin, I think). Still, I like the interface (the search by speaker function is really nice), and the sermons by Bishop Suriel and Fr. Pishoy Salama have really helped me a lot.

Saint Mark Church in Los Angeles has many archived videos of sermons, Liturgies and classes. All are are very well presented. stmarkla.orgHere is a good example: http://stmarkla.org/?post_type=external-videos&p=1299

There are others, but they're not "officially" supported by the Church. So I didn't include them.

Alin Suciu's site is an absolute treasure trove for learing about ancient Coptic manuscripts. http://alinsuciu.com/In particular, Corpus Scriptorum Christianorum Orientalium. would be nice if there were an OO version of www.ancientfaith.com or www.myocn.net Or if there were a way to get OO segways in there... I know a man involved in Ancient Faith who said he thinks they would be open to the idea... Im actually surprised that the copts dont have anything being as technologically focused as they are :-p, maybe they do and its just not in English too lol I know that those at Ancient Faith would be open and interested (I know the founders personally). IIRC one obstacle was copyright on the materials they were trying to gather, as they looked at Syriac and Coptic CDs I had.

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more. A hasty quarrel kindles fire, and urgent strife sheds blood. If you blow on a spark, it will glow; if you spit on it, it will be put out; and both come out of your mouth
