Shalom all,

I recently downloaded a foreign language movie (.avi) which is a accompanied by a file with the English subtitles (.srt). How do I:

1. permanently embed the subtitles into the .avi file
2. create a playable DVD from the embedded .avi file

First time doing this but I assume that the process a pretty straight forward?

Thanks in advance.

The easiest ways for me at least:

1. Put the srt file in the same folder as the video file
2. install a software program called VLC player, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
3. When you play the avi file w/the program the subtitles should automatically be incorporated
4. enjoy!

Oops, sorry. I misread you post. Yes, there is a way. I will try to find the name of the program to burn a DVD with subtitles and reply again. Its quite easy. Unfortunately, my memory escapes me right now.

Thanks for your reply, no rush, whenever you're ready.

Here you go, the program is called DVD Flick and its free/open source. http://www.dvdflick.net/

I've also found a lifehacker article on how to use it.

http://lifehacker.com/232322/hack-attack-burn-almost-any-video-file-to-a-playable-dvd

When you go thru the process yourself, you'll clearly see where to include the subtitles. Good luck!
