The picture labeled "Portal de biserica" conflicts with the inscription, which identifies it as "'Izz al-Din Bath: Night and Day: From 12 to 4 for women: afterwards 4 to 12 for men." Izz al-Din is a Sunni Muslim name. The Lamb, of corse, says "Behold the Lamb of God" in Latin (so I am assuming Maronite?). |

Questions ,why would Romainia want Maronites in there country..Don't the have enought troubles with there own Eastern Catholics......  why are the Romainian Gypsies hated thur out Europe like its mentioned in the world news...I haven't heard or read anything about serbia disliking them .... |

Don't know anything about Maronites but many people assume all Gypsies (misnomer as many believed they originally came from Egypt) or Roma are Romanian. Roma have been in Eastern and Western Europe for many centuries and whilst much of their language is similar to Romanian there are differences. Unfortunately Romania bears the brunt of peoples xenophobia about Roma families and also it seems there are pockets of larger communities in Western Europe which have recently been more troublesome and made the press . Sadly in Romanian as well the Roma are not liked by many people but I believe about 2.5% to 3 % of the population are Roma according to official census. The true population may in reality be higher. I know Gypies of all denominations in Romania - Orthodox, Catholic and Prentecostal.

I thought the Albainians were number one ,in being disliked thur out Europe, but it seems Roma have the Ist place....Greeks iv talked to don't care for the Albainians they never mentioned Gypises though....Hummm Iv' read a article about Spain doing a great Job Intergating the roma people in to there society,Educating them ,,The only way they get any benefits is there children must attend school....Hopefully the rest of Europe will follow suit... |

Romanian and Romany are totally different language: the first neo-Latin, the second a West Indian/Aryan language, akin to Gujarati etc.
