Posted 04/22

SOUTH CANAAN, PA [OCA] -- Archpriest Michael [Dahulich], Bishop-elect of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America, was tonsured to the Lesser Schema at Saint Tikhon's Monastery here on Great and Holy Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah presided at the tonsuring in the presence of the monastic brotherhood and students of Saint Tikhon's Seminary, of which Archimandrite Michael has served as dean for several years.

The following day, Father Michael was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite in anticipation of his consecration to the episcopacy on the second weekend of May.

Axios! Archimandrite Michael will make a fine Bishop. I have been privileged to call him a friend for almost fifty years. Archimandrite Michael and the Deacon Michael from the Holy Protection Cathedral are both vocations from my home parish and of my late father, who was the pastor.

Axios indeed!! Not only to Archimandrite Michael and Father Deacon Michael, but also to your late father who was their spiritual father. May your father's memory be eternal and may God grant many years to both Bishop-elect Michael and Father Deacon Michael.

AXIOS, indeed!  Archimandrite Michael will be visiting my parish this coming week for one final time (he visited often in the past) before he becomes Bishop MICHAEL.
