Books of Hours
« on: April 22, 2010, 04:34:03 AM »
I used to have a moderately sized book (not one of those big thick ones) with the hours, vespers, etc. in it. I think it was a tannish color. I can't remember who published it, though it may have been the Carpatho Russians. Anyone know which one I'm talking about, and if so, can you give me some info on it so I know what to look for?

The Hours of Prayer? If so, it's quite good, albeit in a modern translation. I'm not sure if it's still in print, though, as I haven't seen it for sale anywhere lately.

The Hours of Prayer; A Book of Devotion copyright 1992
The Orthodox Brotherhood of the Virgin Mary
Post Office Box One
Elkhorn West Virginia 24831

Second Edition Copyright 1997

This is likely what you are looking for as the copyright page also states: "Printed with the Blessing of The Right Reverend Bishop Nicholas of Amisos; The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Diocese of the USA"

No ISBN. And sorry, I don't remember the publisher from whom I purchased it probably three or four years ago. Did a quick search of my usual ones, but didn't spot it. Yes, it has a tan soft cover.

How do you like it?
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Once Christ has filled the Cross, it can never be empty again.

This is what I said at the time...   I lost that one and after many intervening years re-acquired a copy last year, but I didn't like it as I once did.
