I think in Thessalonians when it mentions "meeting the Lord in the air," it is actually a reference to Daniel chapter 7. And "meeting the Lord in the air" doesnt mean we will meet Christ in the air then continue floating to heaven. My understanding is that when a king was coming to visit your city/country in ancient times, people would go meet him half way, then walk back the rest of the way with him. Similarly, when we "meet Christ in the air," we will come back to earth with him as he restores creation.
Is this idea Orthodox?
