I am deeply amazed and in love with the greek and russian languages.
Sadly I have to wait until college to get started.
I would go to my parish for greek lessons, but I can't make it every week or even every month due to the distance, anyone speak either languages and english that is willing to help me with a head start?

I can certainly help you with Russian. Ukrainian and Russian are my two equally "first" languages (my parents spoke Russian, while my retired grandfather, with whom I, as a little kid, spent perhaps even more time than with my working parents, spoke Ukrainian). My education, from kindrgarten to graduate school, was entirely in Russian. |

I don't even know the alphabet in greek is it larger than the american one? You mean, the English one?  Its shorter by 2 letters. Start with the sounds of the letters, and the dipthongs (blends of two letters which make a different sound, for example, the "au" in your name would produce the sound "av" as a dipthong in Greek). Make sure that you don't learn to pronounce according to "Erasmian" Greek which was a failed attempt at a "scholarly Greek" still popular in English speaking countries. |

No. The Z is "Zeta" and is the "z" sound. The "F" is Φ (21st letter). |

How's it possible to miscount if you learned classical Greek? That's like one of the first things you learn with just about any language. A Professor Emeritus should know this!
