My electric guitar's treble (bridge) pickup hasn't been working well for the past half year. I took it to a shop to get it fixed, but all they did was readjust the neck and added a missing string.

I looked inside the pickup and it appears that a blue cord is loose. I'm not sure if its supposed to be like that though. Then I opened up the back of the guitar, and it looked to me like a red wire was separated from another red wire...

So I'm not sure which of these (if either) is the cause of my pickup not working...

If anyone can help, i have photos I can upload...

Sounds like the wires came unsoldered from their connections.  Post some pics so I can be sure.

It's a little hard to tell, but it looks as though the lower picture is a bad solder joint-- very easy to fix if you know how to solder. I can't see the blue wire well enough to give you an opinion on that, but as a general rule wires which don't connect to anything are Bad.

That red wire definitely needs to be connected to one of the terminals on the switch.

Take it to a tech (a different one than the hacks you took it to before) and tell him you just want it all rewired and the pots cleaned.  That means he'll remove all the solder from all the connections and reconnect everything with new solder which should fix your problem, at least at the switch level.

As for the blue wire in the pickup, that very well could be the end of the coil that's just come loose.  What brand of pickup is it?

Not sure what brand, the guitar is a Epiphone Les Paul Special II though...

My brother can fix electric guitars. He's got a shop downtown. If you like, I can give you his phone number. Let me know this Sunday; I prefer not to give that on the Internet.

Sure, NP, I went to Guitar Center over a month ago and they told me they wouldn't have a repair guy for another month. So I went to Springfield Music, and they didn't even fix what was wrong...

Heres a better photo of the blue wire:
