Funky characters, revisited
« on: February 16, 2010, 12:33:10 AM »
While you all were enjoying your enforced break from OCnet posting , I used the shutdown to go in and have at some more of those funky characters (a project I started work on on Clean Monday last year!)  I went through the Spanish section this time and almost completely eliminated all of them.

Just wanted to update you on that.

Do you still want people to report posts with funky characters?

What exactly (or approximately, if the definition is too 'graphic') is a funky character? For example, is Bishop Antoun a funky character?

Wynd,

No, I don't need them reported anymore; I am going thread by thread now in the foreign language forums. But thank you for asking.

basilthefool,

Har har.  When we did a migration of a database about 4 years ago, many characters with unicode encoding (used especially with foreign languages) were messed up. I have been gradually fixing them, but it takes hours so I can only do it a bit at a time.

Gracias, Padre.

I'd say so, that's why I'm OCA now.   ;)

Thanks for your hard work, Fr Anastasios!
