"Mother Thrice Admirable" is a Catholic icon of the Theotokos, roughly based on the older Byzantine style "Our Lady Salus Populi Romani" (the Salvation of the Roman people). I was wondering if either icon was venerated particularly by Orthodox. I feel like I've seen the western version among the Russians.

I dunno. The top picture doesn't look like an icon to me; at least not in the traditional sense. I've been in many Russian and Ukrainian homes and churches and have yet to see this "icon" anywhere.

The image you have shown us is basically in breech of Canonical canons and theological principles.

The first give away is the colour of her clothing ...

The second is that the image does not show her ever-virginity (the three stars, one on her forehead, one on her left shoulder and one on the right)  - ALL canonical images of the Theotokos will have the ever-virginity stars.

Also, many icons were produced long before any "canons" were codified.

There are a lot of widely venerated and even miracle-working icons that break all of these rules. I don't think this is one of them though.

That image is not even generally in the style of traditional iconography; it's more in the style of Western post-Renaissance art.
