My dear friends, if you would be willing to please pray for me, as well as the rest of the housekeeping staff, my direct co-workers (Kim, James, Linda, & Christine). We found out last week that our position is being eliminated in our company nationwide sometime in March (either the 6th, or the 27th, depending if they can get this contract signed or not--not even my direct supervisor, who's all the asst. store manager, knows anything yet...so believe me, am praying for the latter date!)
We were offered (if we wanted it) an interview with this 'vendor', which I accepted because well it is an opportunity and it'd be dumb not to.
One of my fellow parishioners has referred me to St. Xenia of St. Petersburg to seek her prayers, so I've been spending the last week getting to know her (her feast day was last night, I read the akathist to her that he gave me).
Thank you so very much!

Thank you my friends for all the prayers--they are greatly appreciated. Just an update to pass along: talked with our actual manager (the one who told us) and she said (and I quote) "is looking like" that it's going to be either the middle-to late March (which I've been praying for as is). She said she didn't want to tell us something and then it end up to turn out not to happen (which I understand). They are keeping her in the dark about a lot of things, so there's nothing she can pass along. Also, still no confirmed date on this interview w/ the vendor. But Glory to God for this news, and the fact that I -have- one. Thank you so much again everyone

Lord, have mercy! We are expecting 9,000 to be laid off on Monday. I only found that out AFTER I told my boss "no" to staying late on Friday to finish a project. I told him I was leaving at 4:30, and at 4:27 he comes up and asks me to update this document, implement the deployment to a server, test it on clients and remove it...can I get that done before I leave? Seriously? I told him, I can't get it all done in 2 minutes, so, no. Then he asked if I could come in on the weekend. No. I teach Saturday morning, had a funeral to attend in the afternoon, Vespers in the evening. Sunday is booked solid with DL, followed by the icon procession, etc...and the first Pan-Orthodox Vespers that evening. I have never said "no" to work, coming in on the weekend, taking on extra work, working late, taking stuff home....this was a first for me. Lets hope I survive to say "yes" or "no" another time. Knytshade, I am glad for your "good" news. I hope that a new vendor will pick everyone up, and you'll only have some paperwork to sign. Lord, have mercy!

Lord have mercy, Liza, my sincerest apologies, thoughts and prayers go out to those 9,000! Your boss sounds scary! :O I understand what you mean about saying 'no'---I do my best -not- too also, but sometimes, it's got to be done. Not much has changed for me since we found this out: regardless, I -still- have a job (for now), and hence -still- have work to do: as unhappy as I am, that's no reason to not keep going with it as if nothing has--bills haven't evolved to pay themselves yet lol. Lord have mercy upon you, that you do survive to say 'yes' or 'no' again. And thank you--I hope so as well, but in the meantime, have to keep going and looking, which I'm trying to do.

God is indeed good to us all! I got some perhaps GOOD news when I got into work yesterday: Kim, my lead, and James, our other FT-er, met one of the guys w/ this new vendor. The information I was given is that they told them that they 'were not looking to get rid of us or drop our pay etc etc...' and seemed -very- anxious to talk to us. So, we had to fill out a short application and they want them back ASAP so they can do background checks on us and get us interviewed and perhaps set up. This vendor will be taking over on March 27th (Saturday to which we -do- have a schedule through). The FT-er says they seemed (and I quote) 'very professional' and it sounds pretty favorable at this point, but it's like I told my lead, I am -not- taking any chances and keeping things cautious (best to do that than jump the gun!)--I know if it's in God's will for us, then it'll happen. . That is all the information I have at this point--next week will probably be busy! But I am happy, excited, and hopeful for this opportunity, not just for myself, but my 4 co-workers--all hard workin' people. Thank you EVERYONE for your prayers--they are treasured and mean a great deal to me. Also thank you to St. Xenia of St. Petersberg for her prayers to the Lord as well!
