Can anyone give me a brief summary of the Apostles' Creed used in the Latin West? I have heard that some scholars say that it is pre/proto-Nicene, and was used in the basic outline of the Nicene Creed. I have also heard that it is a shorthand version of the Nicene Creed which became popular over time. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

Al tercer día resucitó de entre los muertos.

Subió a los cielos,
y está sentado a la diestra de Dios Padre.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father.
Desde allí ha de venir a juzgar a vivos y muertos.
From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
