Please say a prayer for the souls of my university's (Mississppi University for Women's) students, four young women (I do not know the names yet), who were returning from a trip to Alabama and were caught in fire in a hotel room last night. Lord, have mercy. Memory Eternal.

May their memories be eternal! May the Lord comfort those grieving, and help them at this time! When I lived in B'ham, I would pass by the hotel basically every day on my way to the Cathedral. Here's a news article about the fire. |

Thank you all again for the prayers. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The only thing newspapers say is that it was a huge and very hot blaze that seemed to spread through the southern wing of the hotel very rapidly. The firefighters were at the sight exactly FOUR MINUTES after the first 911 call from the hotel, but the fire was already blazing and the girls were already probably dead. In the rather large building, only five or four rooms were occupied, and in one of them my students unfortunately happened to be... Terrible tragedy. We will have a candlelight vigil on campus tomorrow at 7 p.m.
