I have it bookmarked on another computer, and will post the link later when I find it, but the best site ever is the one that has spam emails read by a computer voice over ambient and techno beats.  The Nigerian email scam song could go to #1 if commercially released.

She used mind games and brutal coercion.  The most amusing part of all this is that I am still a member in good standing of National Honor Society (what a joke and waste of time that is...) This is a sad day though since this was the first sememster I realized I can't still get straight As by doing NO work whatsoever.  But I did get an A in Choir....:P

Actually my teacher is considering doing a chant next concert since over all my choir is pretty bad (we are a first year men's chorus), so she is deciding between Gregorian, Russian or Byzantine.  So doing that will get me yet one more A!!!

ok, I won't be able to get it when I go tonight since I am leaving right after church, not even staying for trapeza....but eventually I'll get it.  The fathers are very helpful to me with this kind of stuff - most of the Greek I have learned has been from them.

Hehe

I was thinking about poor Nektarios' marks [ after trying to understand the greek lesson ;( ] and realised why he has not been quite as successful as he so obviously would have wished :cwm35: :cwm35:
I quote so she is deciding between Gregorian, Russian or Byzantine. :cwm24:

Nektarios -- it's between two and among three or more

It may be Christmas Day but

another 100 prostrations for you  ;D ;D

Anhelyna...I quite agree...but defer sentence to tomorrow...the poor creature has been praying all night and is.... most likely physically prostrated, though spiritually transported. ;)

Exactly...after all, it's not like the poor creature can take advantage of God's restorative gift to mankind, a fine, 16-year old Lagavulin, now is it? Stateside, he has FOUR long years before he can sample this nectar with any degree of legality...she says, sipping some....

Nektarios,

Not being a greek speaker/scholar I cannot, and will not correct your greek :D

BUT on the other hand ;)

Being a native English speaker and the language is my Mother tongue ;) I reserve the right to deal with sloppy/incorrect language usage. I hate it. ;D ;D

Peter - you can always find humour at the expense of poor Americans who have to labour with English. What is the pointe of gloating :P

...and yes I usually detest poor grammer, but my spelling is simply horrid.

It's the Feast of the Nativity, so I will not even begin with the spelling in this last post.

I gotta plan  ;D ;D

And before anyone has a go at me - a very famous mendicant tipster called Prince Monolulu [ honest] used to say "I gotta horse "

so - I gotta plan ;)

Notice that in the last post by our young hellenic friend he used the word labour  - so all is not lost - nor it is hopeless.

Now if I assist him with his grammar perhaps he will reciprocate with IT skills for me - how do you make the quote thingie work ?

Evlogite...

Nektarios...Anhelyna is deputized to hand out prostrations to you for all grammar gaffs not previously caught by me. Gerondissa, indeed.  Sub-Deacon Peter as Clergy may do the same. Mor Ephrem as Ecumenical Patriarch of course enjoys similar privileges,  as do Emperor Dustinian the Apostate-but-possibly-glorified-depending-on-which-day-of-the-week-it-is, Metropolitan Bobby of Research Triangle Park, and Metropolitan David of the Holy Orthodox Church of North Carolina (see thread)...all these people can certainly undertake to teach you any degree of proper humility...which is to say, any amount more than you currently possess.

Evlogite.

Gerondissa :bounce:

Perhaps the difference is that in the States, the media tends to draw on various communities for interviews, or for inspiration for drama, etc., while what we see from Britain is not the English of poor Brits in the ghetto, but the polished English of aristocrats. How many aristocrats do you get appearing on US television!! We don't get many appearing on TV over here. I'm from working class roots but try to speak and write clearly and properly, that's all. In the tradition of 19th century self-education there is no need for any person from any background to speak or write incoherently. Many working men taught themselves Greek, Latin, even Hebrew.

What we see from England tends to be either BBC English...or, Gawd 'elp us...Liverpudlian.  (Not sure if I spelled that last correctly)
