i find it curious that Moses tells Pharaoh that the Israelites intend to go 3 days journey to offer sacrifice when the plan is to return to the holy land...do the Church Fathers comment on this?

I was unable to come up with anything from the Church Fathers, though fwiw there are other Biblical examples of saints (and even an angel) using deception for good ends (Jos. 2 and James 2:25' Tob. 5 and 12; 1 Kings 20:35-43).

He did much worse than lie when he murdered an Egyptian.

Didn't Moses also lie about the laws concerning divorce?

I've always been suspicious about his claim to being an Israelite, that story about his birth seems a bit contrived.
