Hi all. I was referred here by Hesychios from CAF. I just learned about 'The Great Orthodox Purge of 2007' that happened over there. Wow, what a giant piece of drama... I really was surprised with the whole situation once it had sunk in. Anyway, I actually just want to say that after a year as an inquirer at St. Maximum Orthodox Mission in Denton TX, I was accepted into the catechumenate this past Sunday the 13th. Hopefully I can be baptized this Pascha. Nice to see the survivors of 'The Second Great Schism' all congregating here.

Thanks. Oh and by the way, here is a thread I posted at CAF almost a year ago when I was first starting to ask questions about Orthodoxy. The fact that I thought Catholicism and Orthodoxy were the same thing shows my level of ignorance at the time. Falling for an Orthodox girlEarlier today, before I was aware of the ban on Orthodox discussion, I posted a thread for the purpose of announcing my becoming a catechumen. As you can see, it didn't take long for someone to express their horror at having Orthodoxy rear its ugly head again at CAF and to denounce the Orthodox sacraments as worthless. Falling for an Orthodox girl: revisitedBy the time I realized that I had broken the cardinal rule, the damage was done. To their credit, there were some nice folks there who replied to my thread, and maybe that means that things have lightened up a little. Still, I wonder if that thread will be closed or deleted, or if I will be banned... not that it will matter a whole lot to me. This place seems ok, and I found this place too, so there seems to be no lack of message boards where people can say the word 'Orthodox' without fear of reprisals.

Here is the thread on this Forum about the Great CAF Purge of 2007 - one by one we bedraggled refugees from CAF scrambled aboard the OC.net lifeboat and looked around for old friends and mates who had survived the Purge. Some were missing arms, others were eyeless, some were legless..... "catholic answers forum bars orthodox dicussion"http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php/topic,13287.0.html
