Friday and is to be buried on Wednesday.

Lord have mercy! Memory Eternal!

I can't even imagine what you are going through. I am very close to my paternal grandmother and dread the day she dies.

Memory Eternal!

My two grandmas were very special to me, too. My parents were both scientists and worked very long hours when I was little, so I was, essentially, raised by my two grandmothers and my grandfather (all three retired). My maternal granndmother died when she was 79, in an instant (transmural infarction and rupture of the heart), and my paternal grandmother died very slowly, in about 8 years, succumbing to Alzheimer's; she reposed when she was 82.

May her memory be eternal!

I lost two grandparents this year and, especially around the holidays, that hole feels much larger.  Lord, have mercy on you, too, Robb as you go through this time.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.

Heorhij,

Is it true that Russian/Ukrainian/Slavic people tend to be very close to their grandmothers?  This seems to be what I have both noticed and heard.
Is there some cultural factor that makes this more so then in other societies?

Lord, have mercy. Dear Lord, please grant the eternal rest to Your handmaiden. Dear Redeemer, please help Robb and other members of the family.

Please, dear Lord, also, grant the eternal rest to other reposed individuals, who were mentioned by their loved ones in this thread.

I, too, was so very close to my grandma.

So was I as well.
