The Greek Orthodox Church in America has lost one of its great benefactors, Michael Cantonis, who died on November 17th at the age of 94. He was an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Among his numerous contributions to the church, he endowed a chair at Holy Cross School of Theology, supported the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and was a friend who supported the ministry of the former Archbishop of America, Spyridon. He was also the Godfather of the Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Locanto, Florida, which will be opening its new Byzantine style edifice in a matter of weeks. Services will be held at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
May he rest in peace among the saints.
