I don't know how you folks have the time to rack up so many posts. I'm only here so much at the mo because other lists I'm on are pretty quiet just now, although this is a spiritually beneficial place and it's well worth the time. I must admit to keeping refreshing the front page a lot just waiting for US folks to wake up.

I pop in between classes and when I'm not doing anything better.  I have to find more to occupy my time!! Then to, I'm not one to post marathon posts. I try to keep mine to under 6 pages unlike some of the other posters here. |

I also have some strong reservations about the stated purpose of that web site: "Uniting all Christians in One Body." There is no way we can be one with heretics. No way. That does not mean I hate them or wish them ill; but how can I be united in one body with those who believe the Divine Liturgy (or the Mass) is blasphemous idolatry? Or that God is an arbitrary Player of Pawns? Life is too short for the anger that CF generates in me. And I live too far from my Church to be able to go to confession every day! |

Dear Linus: Notice that I didn't use the word heretic either. The other weirdos I also avoid, unless they ask sincere questions. Some are now expressing an interest in Orthodoxy. I wait for them to come to the Ancient Way forum -- some are attracted to the catchy title of a thread. Then they start digging and some ultimately convert to Orthodoxy. Threrefore, I think it's important to make the title as attractive as possible, without lying. Do you have very many inquirers over here who just chanced to come upon this site by God's grace? Is there a definitive statement from the whole Orthodox Church on Roman Catholicism, or must we hunt for a probable consensus of opinion, as on other issues? If you know of such a statement, please post it. I am reluctant to swing the sword of a heresy charge against other apostolic Christians. That sword has two edges and a sharp point. The leading edge might be aimed at the RCC, but the other edge might just as easily wound those who question the legitimacy of any of the councils regarded by the Orthodox Church as ecumenical. |

Do you not consider:
Papal Supremacy
Papal Infallibility
The Filioque
to be doctrinal innovvations? And condemned by the Orthodox Church?
I don't get the sense that you accept the encyclical of your Patriarchs as being authoritative so I guess it will be difficult for me to find any authoritative EO statement which you will accept which criticeses these later doctrines? What level of authority would be necessary?

Well, some might argue that rejection of any of the Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Church amounts to heresy. I really do not know why you pursued me into this thread in an attempt to get me to call Roman Catholics heretics. I refuse to do what you want me to do, just as I refuse to call you a heretic. Get hold of one of the ROAC guys. They will give you all you want to know on the RCC and stuff you don't want to hear about your own church (and probably mine), as well. |
