Please pray for my nephew, David. David is an evangelical pastor; husband and father of 8 wonderful children. This last weekend he experienced sudden blurred vision. On Monday he was referred to the emergency eye clinic, then on to Middlemore, then Auckland Hospital and after many tests, the doctors have found the cause: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. David has started Chemotherapy. Please pray for peace and courage for his wife, Tarnya. Please keep David in your prayers.

Sorry to hear that.  I lost my grandfather (who was also my legal guardian) to cancer. And I almost lost my best friend to cancer when he was just a teenager. Terrible, terrible thing. |

Update: My nephew was booked for a bone marrow transplant on the 23rd April, but there has been a set back. In December, a bone marrow biopsy showed him to be in remission. However, the consultant rang to inform him that the results of a recent bone marrow biopsy show cancer cells, which means that is no longer the case. There are no cancer cells in his blood yet. The consultant has made a treatment change: David will go into hospital this week for aggressive chemotherapy with the bone marrow transplant being delayed until they can get him into remission. This is very difficult with this variety of acute leukemia. Please continue to remember David in your prayers.

Bad news.
David had another meeting with his medical consultant and the news is not good. The results of his last bone marrow biopsy were so bad that it is clear that a transplant is not an option. This was with two weeks of heavy duty chemo he had had a few weeks ago. His blood is already filling with blasts. The consultant has moved from cure to control. David has gone back on vincristine, the first chemo drug that produced the first remission. If the vincristine does not halt the multiplication of the blasts then David may have weeks. If the vincristine can control the blasts he will have a few months.
Please continue to keep David in your prayers.
