Out of curiosity, are there any albums that you love that came out before you were born? My favorite five such albums would be...
Black Sabbath - Paranoid (1970)
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (1971)
Scorpions - Lovedrive (1979)
Grand Funk Railroad - Grand Funk (1969)
A note on the Scorpions album, I actually had to check wiki as I was born early in '79. Turns out Lovedrive was released about 16 days before I was born.

Led Zeppelin-Houses of the Holy (1973)
Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon (1973)
Queen-A Night at the Opera (1975)
The Who-Who Are You? (1978)
The Clash-London Calling (1979)
U2-Boy (1980)
Rush-Moving Pictures (1981)
The Cure-Japanese Whispers (1983)
In the cases of U2 and The Cure, I enjoy many of their later albums better, but I was limited to 1984 and earlier.

My goodness, but you are all babies compared to me. I was already born when all those albums came out. I guess I'm really old.
Sometimes I like listening to the old jazz from the 30's, 40's and 50's. That would be before my time. Benny Goodman's Live at Carnegie Hall is a good one. His Sing, Sing, Sing is a classic. Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald are also great to listen to. I acquired my taste for this sort of thing from my dad who is a jazz fan from back when it was new. As a young man he saw Charlie Parker play. He can listen to this stuff any time. I have to be in the right mood for it, though.

and, while put out after I was born Duke Reid's Treasure Chest is a collection of singles made in the late '60s from Duke Reid's Treasure Isle rocksteady label. This particular collection probably gets the most play out of any single (or double, in this case) CD in my collection.

The one album I have, which is really more of a compilation and therefore not technically a real album, that predates my birth is a collection of jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi's Greatest Hits. I picked this up for its "Linus and Lucy" theme (remember the 1964 Charlie Brown Christmas Special?) as I was grieving Charles Schulz's death almost ten years ago but found that Mr. Guaraldi had recorded a much larger body of work over his career than just the Peanuts theme. Remember his chart "Cast Your Fate to the Wind"? |

The Beatles and The Classic Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Cream heck everything I like was made before I was born especially Bach's Mass in B minor, But I do like modern country. The only Rock I'll listen to was put out pretty much in the 60's-early70's thirty years or so before I was born.(81)
