Prayer is always answered. It just might not be the answer you are looking for.

Lord, have mercy on St George.

^^I agree. I have long given up on "quick and dirty" answers to my prayers. I do pray, not quite regularly and not quite long, skipping bigger or smaller parts of the liturgical prayers in my Ukrainian prayerbook, without any thought about will these prayers be answered or not. And I do not, ever, ever "pray" in an improvised way, "asking" God to GIVE me this or that. I just say the liturgical prayers from the book, that's all. Maybe it's a "rote" repetition, maybe it's meaningful, but I somehow feel that the other way - really asking God to GIVe me what *I* WANT - is worse. He knows better what's good for me...

Lord, have mercy.
"If you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon Him and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord and He will help you. Walk straight in His ways and put your hope in Him. " Sir 2:1-6

Lord have mercy.
