We got the LotR trilogy (theatrical cut) for a fiver. I think we'll be watching Fellowship with the little one later. Never forget what the Scripture says: "Bring a child up in the way of the Lord of the Rings, and when he is old he will not turn from it" - Hezekiah 41:4

Life of Pi was fantastic. One of the greatest stories ever told on the big screen.
I just saw the trailer. One of my friends praised it too but the trailer seemed like a basic family movie with cute animals. Why was it so fantastic?

You betcha! I'mma leave The Hobbit to his father, though. Boys bonding over adventure, and all that.

Just finished the Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol, followed by the George C. Scott version; followed, of course, by the Father Ted Christmas Special.
Father Ted! Have you seen "Bless Me, Father?" Never heard of it - is it in the same vein? "Bless Me, Father" is much more respectful and very funny, especially if you were raised Catholic in the 50's...lol Any episode with Mother Kevin in it is a blast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6YSPgdAjG0

The only movie I've seen is "Les Miserables", while I enjoyed it visually the singing wasn't anywhere close to the 10th Anniversary concert. Still, I did enjoy it and many scenes brought me to tears.

There's a song called "Zero Dark Thirty," by Aesop Rock. Was it in the movie, by any chance?

Just finished watching North by Northwest. I love Hitchcock and the movie was really great, but I must admit that I found the ending, where the scene transitions from Mount Rushmore to the sleeping car, a bit weird.
But overall, it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Django Unchained is great. More linear than most of Tarantino's output, but that's not a bad thing. See it if you have a decently high threshold for violence and racial slurs.

I've heard mixed things. Some people think Lincoln did well in theaters. Historically, this had not been the case.

GF: What are you doing? ME: I'm putting a movie in on the computer. GF: What movie? ME: Pumping Iron. GF: What? ME: It has Arnold in it. GF: Well I like Arnold. Why don't you put it on the TV? ME: Because you won't like it. GF: Why? ME: Because it's about bodybuilding. GF: What? ME: What? GF: So it's not a movie. ME: It's a movie. It's a documentary. GF: It's not a movie. ME: Ok. GF: Why would you want to watch that? ME: I like it. GF: You want to be a bodybuilder? ME: No. GF: Good. Cause they're gross. ME: Ok. GF: So why are you watching it? ME: I like it. GF: You just said you didn't. ME: I said I didn't want to be a bodybuilder. I don't want to play football either, but I watch it. GF: You're weird. ME: Some say. GF: I'm pretty sure that anyone who has ever met you would confirm that.

There should be a movie combining all my cop shows: NCIS, CSI, Mentalist, Castle, Law and Order, and some House to mix it up.
I recently rewatched the Russian film "1613," a highly historically inaccurate but fairly entertaining film. All the unicorn symbolism was weird, though.
"The Robe" just arrived from Amazon. That'll be next.

good choice Just my silly sense of humor. Here's why I was inspired to create this fictitional movie poster: One of my favorite movies is "The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit," starring Gregory Peck. But when I showed the movie to my children, they hated it. They said, "Papa, you usually show us great movies, but this one was terrible." So, I decided to make this fake movie poster and tell them that I had another great movie to show them. I'm goofy, I know. Selam
