Self-Less was a fair movie, 3 out of 5 popcorns, so if you want to wait for the small screen.....cool; salty language and quicky bed room scenes (PG-13!), but in the end it honors family.

I thought so, too, though the fake baby was pretty obvious.

In the history of art--visual, textual, aural--has there ever been a more insightful, accurate, and profound metaphor for sin, resurrection, and paradise? If there has been, I have not heard of it.

If i had to choose between the two, I would choose Gran Turino, just because Clint starred in it and I thought just did a great job.

Well, Bernie was all those things too. Paradise, just look at his house.  Sin, a murderer and an adulterer.  Resurrection, rises from the dead, though still dead, and shows Jonathan Silverman and Andrew Mc Carthy the time of their lives.

This profile is defunct as of 11/8/2017. I created it before Orthodoxy, and have used it after Orthodoxy.

I reject all that I wrote that isn't in accordance with the teachings of the Orthodox Church. Also, my posts reflect my opinions (present or former) and nothing else.

I just saw Ant-Man on Saturday night. It was fairly funny (though at times it tried to hard to be funny), but it was not one of Marvel's bets movies.

Watched Child 44 which was ok. I liked the idea of someone trying to uncover truth in an environment created to avoid all forms of truth.

Ant-Man is Marvel's work that feels more like a TV family movie.

Frequencies throws an odd twist into romantic comedies with its low sci-fi and philosophical take.

I took my three year old to see Minions yesterday. It was cute and even witty at times but nothing close to Despicable Me, though it does make connections to that movie.

Watched Ravenous on TV t'other night. Not a horror fan but it had dark humor and cannibalism, so could one go wrong?
Don't like "wet horror movies" and this had enough to gag a maggot, however! that aside, a good flick, if only to watch the power plays of Good and Evil, Nietzsche & Christianity.
OK, I go far out a bit, however after reading this month's FIRST THINGS article by their winner (only moments before the movie) it was a home run, if not a grand slam.
Recommend, yes, if you've time to kill or need to rest up.

I re-watched Raging Bull while Jake Lamatta was a great fighter (hey he gave sugar ray robinson his only defeat) boy did he have his demons that whole film was about a man and his sins. What happened to Scorsese ij his older films he incorprated themes like sin, greed, lust salvation, etc. beautifuly but his newer films well they just bash religion it seems like. I think this was Scorsese best directed film but I also loved Goodfellas and Mean Streets a lot too.

Saw War Room and liked it.
For me it was American Orthodoxy as I saw little to no theological, heretical, anathema-let-us-kill-all-Protestants-in-the-name-of......
Yes, purists Orthodox could not abide, dudes, AND it was enjoyable.
Yes, Protestants made it so I'll be going to hell probably on the early morning, late train.
If you like feel good movies....oh, wait, this is an Orthodox forum!.........never mind.
Take tissues.

Very good movie. And thanks for actually mentioning a worthwhile film.
