Train suicide
« on: October 01, 2009, 09:38:59 AM »
Last night, at the train station in front of my house, someone jumped in front of the train.  I was taking my sons to their mothers, and we crossed ourselves (I teach the boys always to cross themselves when they see an amubulance, for whoever needs it).  I know nothing else, except that the person and his/her loved ones are in need of prayer.

Lord have mercy, and memory eternal!

Also, as someone had posted on this, pray for the conductor.  I imagine, although to all reports there was nothing he could do, that it weighs heavy on him.  God grant him peace!

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth

Lord, have mercy.  Memory Eternal!
Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

Lord have mercy.
"For, by its immensity, the divine substance surpasses every form that our intellect reaches. Thus we are unable to apprehend it by knowing what it is. Yet we are able to have some knowledge of it by knowing what it is not." - St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa contra gentiles, I, 14.

Lord, have mercy.
"If you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon Him and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord and He will help you. Walk straight in His ways and put your hope in Him. " Sir 2:1-6

"Lord have mercy."

May God grant us sensitivity to the pain and suffering of those around us. May He give us the courage to confess our despair and seek help when we feel hopeless. May Our Lord help us to use our words and actions to lift others up rather than to tear them down.

Life is so fragile, and our hearts can so easily be broken. I pray that God would help us all. "His mercy endureth forever."

-Amen-

“Universe,” “love,” “eternity,” “brotherhood,” “peace,” “life,” “justice,” “truth,” “God”… These are big words. Very big words. But not nearly big enough. They can’t be defined; they can only be lived.
