I have been reading St. John Cassian and I was wondering if someone could help me grasp what is the difference between listlessness and dejection as separate vices? Also, the same for vain-glory and pride? I am not quite getting it. It seems that there is a great enough difference that St. John Cassian and other Eastern Fathers treated them separately but linked while the difference to St. Gregory Dialogos was apparently subtle enough that he collapsed these four into two: Sloth and Pride.....

Only a few paragraphs on Cassian but worth the read.
