Icons depicting the Uncreated Light
« on: August 09, 2009, 01:50:18 AM »
Can people please post icons of saints which depict the Uncreated Light or Tabor Light?  Obviously the many icons depicting the Transfiguration of our Lord are not required.  I am interested to see how prominent it is in the Orthodox iconographic tradition.

For example, this icon of St. Symeon the New Theologian:

That's what it says, but the story of St. Seraphim never terms it that way.  I wonder if there is some translation issue from the Russian story.

I've been assuming that halos in icons are supposed to be the Uncreated Light.

If one is observed being transfigured, I wonder if one is automatically canonized?

Just teasing though. ;)

Would the Transfiguration count?

Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.
