"Game 1" and "Game 2" will likely have major implications for playoff seeding.

At this point, Game 1 and Game 2 are the only ones that matter, and I'm not just saying that because I have the most to lose in Game 2 Wink

This past week was just terrible.  I wish I had had the bye week.  Everyone underperformed.

If I win, I lock up 3rd seed.  If I lose and you win, you lock up 3rd seed, serbski goes to 4th, and I to 5th.  If I lose and you lose, then serbski will be 3, me 4, and you 5.

How do the playoffs work?  How many teams advance, and does the fantasy league end at the end of the nfl regular season?

You can actually find a projected playoff bracket if you click on the "Standings" link and find the link for the playoff bracket there.  This is the last week of our regular season.  The playoffs will be 3 rounds long, with most teams playing at each round, and the final standings determined by various outcomes of games (1st place game, 3rd place game, and the 5th place game, and the 8th place game - 7th place will end up with a bye, and 2 teams will play for 8th/9th).

Fr. George

Thanks.  So six teams advance to the playoffs.  It's a shame the Vikings lost Sunday and the Saints ended up beating my Redskins (who these last few weeks have actually played quite well against quality teams; hopefully Snyder doesn't go crazy and cut everyone during the off-season, the team looks like it is finally coming together), hopefully the Saints don't rest Brees.  Last thing I want to do is start Sanchez in the playoffs...I'll be out my first game lol.

Well, coptic Orthodox boy, there actually is a playoff at all levels (that is, you play for final standing); but only the top 6 have a chance at the championship.

As i'm watching the thursday night game here, I begin to realize that as much as Big Ben is sucking it up right now, and killing my fantasy prospects, it means that the BROWNS are winning, and the STEALERS are loosing (more importantly).  Not really sure if joy is what I should be feeling...but I just can't help it.

They've got a knack for losing to the worst teams in the league.  There's no reason to try and defend that.

I have always hated the steelers.  steelers fans are outrageous and aggravate me to no end.  Fr. George knows of a certain seminarian we both went to school with from the illustrious city of Pittsburgh, who only exacerbated my aggravation.

Indeed.  Notice how he (and his brother) had nothing to say after this recent fiasco beyond "shut up Browns fans."

Are the playoffs double elimination in Fantasy Football?  I never knew that....   Huh

So in this system, the 9th seed team could win the whole championship?

I believe only those teams in the Winner's Bracket have a chance to win the championship (only 4 teams remaining).  The remaining games (Winner's Consolation Ladder and Consolation Ladder) I believe are just for rankings at the end of the fantasy football 2009 season.

Coptic Orthodox Boy is right.  The consolation bracket is only so we don't have any inactive teams during the playoffs - unlike most other leagues I've played in, everyone plays every week, if for nothing more than pride and a notch or two on the final standings.  Consolation bracket: The winner of this week's "Jaloshin" vs. "Munich" game will finish #7 (and have a "bye" in the final week), and the loser will play "Νέα Ορλεάνη" for the right to call themselves #8, with the loser being #9.

I'm excited for my Norfolk game - win or lose, it was the matchup I wanted in the second round (rather than playing those "Politicians").

You and me both, but you won it fair and square. Tongue

Let's see if my team doesn't fall to pieces this week and I manage to beat Washington.  On paper, I should, but every time I've been this far ahead on paper, I lose.

I'm not as good as my record states.  There have been quite a few games I just barely won.  Who knows, maybe I'll be like Manning and the Colts have been in the playoffs of past seasons and lose after coming off my bye week.

Caldwell threw me under the bus with his pulling of Manning for no good reason  Angry

With that, I throw my support behind Fr. George and the Rust Spots for the championship.

I always root for the underdog, especially against a juggernaut like you've created. Wink
