I'd like to hear some opinions...

Of course for me, I'd choose something that will benefit me in the afterlife, but I'm still not sure. One of the fruits/gifts of the Holy Spirit probably...

Oops, I think this would've been better off in the "Off topics" section. Oh well.

"Lord Have Mercy on Me a Sinner!"

Well... Solomon asked for wisdom, and God granted him this wish and gave him many material blessings as well. So I guess I would be a fool not to ask for wisdom.

But the 3 things I pray for constantly are Repentance, Humility, and Perseverance. I reason that as long as I have a repentant heart, a humble spirit, and a persevering attitude then I will always be growing and developing spiritually. I guess I pray for these things so often because I feel like I don't even come close to possessing them. Perhaps I never will.

Good question!

I think that my answer would change based upon when you ask me. Today I would desire the ability to know what it is that he wants us (my family and I) to do next specifically. Currently we are on the cusp of making some pretty big life altering decisions and it would be nice to know what the right path to take is. Then I would desire that my husband not have to return on deployment. And lastly I would want to be the wife, woman and mother that my husband and children need me to be. Not because I want to be seen as perfect, but because I think that my family could always deserve better than what I am currently doing. No one is perfect and we aren't meant to be perfect. But I want to be worthy of the wonderful gift of a family I have been granted.

And financial security would always be nice Grin

A special wish for today:

That the world would know and heed the glorious wisdom of His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, who was known as "Defender of the Orthodox Faith." Because of H.I.M., I was brought to the regenerating waters of my beautiful Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

Today is Haile Selassie's birthday, July 23rd.

Precisely!
So given the Infinite Love and Mercy of the granter of the wishes, the best things to wish for would be:

1) Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

2) Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

I don't think it's unreasonable to wish for something like:

1. That I may always be in Your Love
2. That I may feel your Love as Heaven, not Hell, for all eternity and beyond.
3. That I may be in the company of the Saints in Your Kingdom.

1) Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

2) Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

3) Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

I don't think it's unreasonable to wish for something like:

1. That I may always be in Your Love
2. That I may feel your Love as Heaven, not Hell, for all eternity and beyond.
3. That I may be in the company of the Saints in Your Kingdom.

But all three of those are His will.  Smiley

But is there an issue with stating it so explicitly, rather than the vague "Thy will be done?"

Not really an issue, but I think it's good if we realize that the goal is to align our will with the Will of God, and that there is nothing to fear about this because we are aligning ourselves to the Will of One Who loves us, knows what is best for us, and is pleased to give us the Kingdom (Luke 12:32).

I'd like to hear some opinions...

Of course for me, I'd choose something that will benefit me in the afterlife, but I'm still not sure. One of the fruits/gifts of the Holy Spirit probably...

---
Oops, I think this would've been better off in the "Off topics" section. Oh well.

1. unity - which imo includes peace, love, etc.
2. healing for all
3. The full presence of the Lord reigning as he says he will.

1.  To end all schisms of the Church.
2.  To remove a particular "thorn on my back" so to speak.
3.  To remove the excess weight that I have (either that or at least help me not struggle through the P90X program I'm doing....it's killing me Lord!).

Oops, I think this would've been better off in the "Off topics" section. Oh well.

I wouldn't want anything like special knowledge or a strong faith. I think the struggle along the way is an important part of life. It's a fun part of life as well. To a lot of things I have to say "I don't know" at this point in my life, and frankly, I like it better that way. Not that I value ignorance; rather, I just value the thrill of the hunt for truth. So, what does that leave me with? My wishes would be rather worldly...

1. I want enough money mystically put in my bank account that I could live off it for the rest of my life. I live in a rather rural area where the cost of living is low, so even a million dollars should be able to cover me for the next 30-50 years I'll be alive.

2. A reliable car that would last me the rest of my life, and which would never break down. I don't care what kind of car, or what color (as long as it's not pink Tongue ).

3. Ok, these are wishes from God, so anything is possible, even for a bloke like me! So, for my third wish, I want a shot at marrying Michele Lepe. Just a shot, that's all I ask. Grin

Why? Saying that wars of choice (which are all wars the USA is waging, because all of them are on the territory of sovereign nations that never attacked the US) are evil and should be stopped - that cannot be taken seriously?

The problem is that you are always talking about this. Over and over and over. Then you make ridiculous statements like the last one in which you said you want to see the previous vice president executed. I mean, come on, this is a light-hearted "three wishes" thread and you had to go there. I have no problem with your pacifism (even though it is silly) but your later statements are unacceptable.

laugh I love the cold though.  If funds suffice, maybe I can head to Northern Europe for the summer.  Sure it isn't "cold" then, but anything to escape the 30s, 40s and humidity of here.
