Mother of God - Searcher for the Lost
http://www.kazanmonastery.org/searcher.htmRevered since the 18th century, a peasant lost his way during a heavy snowstorm and stopped his sled on the edge of an impassable ravine. As the weather worsened, the man began to freeze, offering a prayer to the Mother of God. He promised to make an image – Searcher for the Lost, and donate it to his parish church if he should survive his ordeal. The peasant laid down on his sled to get warm and eventually fell asleep.
In response to his prayer, a peasant in a neighboring village heard someone say “Take it” under his window. He went to the street and saw a horse pulling a sled with his friend on it. He brought his half frozen friend into his house to care for him. Fedot Obukhov did survive his ordeal and kept his promise to the Mother of God, installing her icon Searcher for the Lost in the village church of Bor. Since then, the icon has continued to shower forth many miracles for the faithful.
