Veteran CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite departed this life at 7:42 PM this evening. He was 92.
May the Lord grant Walter pardon and remission of his sins, and remember him in His Kingdom.

While I was was more of a Huntley-Brinkley fan, I always respected Walter Cronkite as a devoted journalist, back in an era when an anchor's political preferences were not obvious when he reported the news, unlike today.
I'll always recall the LBJ quote, when Cronkite announced his opposition to the Vietnam War, after a video journal he prepared during a trip to Vietnam. Referring to himself as "this reporter," he announced his opposition to America's role in the war. LBJ was quoted to have said, "I've just lost America."
"And that's the way it is, Friday, July 17, 2009..."
