Znamenny Chant
« on: November 13, 2003, 09:59:51 PM »
Anybody know of a website where I can download Znamenny Chant in mp3 format, or that offers Znamenny Chant CDs?

I find this ancient Russian chant very beautiful.

No problem!  Also available at conciliarpress.com and should be (or will be soon) at light-n-life.com and svspress.com

Still looking for more, BTW.  Preferably in Slavonic.

http://www.orthodoxmusic.ru/

You have to order them from Russia, but it is worth the hassle.  These are some of the best Slavonic chant CDs I've heard.  The ones from Valaam are particularly nice.  I've recently ordered from them and they are courteous and quite reliable.

There are a few pointers I can give you to help the ball get rolling a little quicker.  If you're interested, just PM or post back here and I help you out.

I have yet to find any better Slavonic CDs out there.  I have about 8-10 titles from them, and they're so beautifully recorded, packaged, etc. that I eventually want to get them all.  I can highly recommend these specifically as I've heard them:

Conciliar press has also released a CD of chant from Valaam in English and one in Slavonic, both in Znamenny style.

addition:  Their CDs are incredibly reasonably priced.  Even with shipping from Russia, a single CD costs around US $12.
