A new martyr's poem

(1/1)

Loukas:
A poem written by Fr. Basil, who died on Pascha of 1993 from the sword of a satanist in Optina monastery.

Show me, O Lord, the end of my life,
And the number of my days reveal to me.
May be then shall I fear the material strife,
And no one will extinguish the fear of Thee.
Tell me this and abandon me thence,
So my soul may mature in misfortunes on Earth
So the way of the cross brings me the strength
Before it is time to head off.

Beautiful, Luke.  And the New-martyr Hieromonk Basil of Optina looks so young in his photo, but he had such spiritual maturity!
