Niamiha disaster
« on: May 31, 2009, 05:02:24 PM »
I forgot, but yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the tragedy which took place in Miensk (Belarus).

During the pop concert which was taking place near Niamiha metro station the storm came. Hundreds from the participants - young people - in inexplicable panic started to run to underground in order not to get wet. On the greasy stairs many of them fell over and were crushed or penetrated by boot's high heels of those, who were following them. 53 people (mainly teenagers but 2 Pollice officers also) were killed.

Memory eternal!

For those who understand Belarusian or any East-Slavic language in general: there is a song about the event, very sad though

Memory eternal.
