Shooting in Athens Georgia
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:04:20 PM »
We had a terrible tragedy in Athens, Georgia this weekend.  A UGA professor shot and killed his wife and two others at a picnic for a local theater group.  He is now on the run and a nationwide search for him has been launched.

The victims were Marie Bruce (his wife), Tom Tanner, and Ben Teague, whom I personally knew-- a kind hearted, self sacrificing man who dedicated his life to Town and Gown Players and to the Athens performing arts community, and who gave his life trying to stop Zinkhan from hurting those he loved.

Please pray for the Town and Gown community.  Please pray for the victims and their families.  Please pray that George Zinkhan is safely apprehended.  And most of all, please pray for the children of George Zinkhan and Marie Bruce, who lost their mother, and now their father, and whose lives are forever changed by their father's terrible actions.

May their memory be eternal!!!!  May God's LOVE, MERCY, and COMPASSION rain down on those poor children and on the friends and loved ones of Marie, Tom, and Ben.
Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
Matthew 18:5

May the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
"For, by its immensity, the divine substance surpasses every form that our intellect reaches. Thus we are unable to apprehend it by knowing what it is. Yet we are able to have some knowledge of it by knowing what it is not." - St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa contra gentiles, I, 14.

Lord, have mercy!
"If you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon Him and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord and He will help you. Walk straight in His ways and put your hope in Him. " Sir 2:1-6
