I have restored the topic reply notification.  I have flushed out 75000 messages from the queue.  It should be working now, and you should not receive old, backed up emails. But if you do, please report it here immediately so I can shut the server down again and investigate.

thanks,

Me, too. Just got 12 from current topics which were not checked for notification (AFAIK).

Correction: that option was activated, but I guess it never worked well enough before for me to notice. Embarrassed

will I have to deactivate every notifcation for every single thread?  Is there one all-encompassing way to do this?

There is a setting in your profile on the left called Notifications.  Go there, and make your selections. You can globabally turn off all notifications.

You can also unsubscribe yourself en masse to all threads you may already be subscribed to (but weren't receiving notifications since I turned it off).

1) If the forum does not behave as you expect it to based on your settings, please report it.

2) If you get a notification from before today, April 14, please report it.

Thanks,

FrA

I merged your post into this thread, so Fr. Anastasios would see it and address it if possible.

Actually, you are subscribed to many threads and have the option to receive notifications selected.

I can fix it for you, but instead I will let you try to fix it yourself first, in case it ever happens again and you need to know how to fix it.

Go to your profile, and click Notifications and Email.

Unsubscribe yourself from all the threads you are already subscribed to, and then unselect the notifications settings.

If you have trouble let me know and I will assist you.

In Christ,

Is it acting up again? I am getting emails that our SMTP limit is over the threshold.

Let me know if you were not getting topic reply notifications you had subscribed for, but then suddenly you started getting a slew of old ones (a backlog).

I have confirmation that the backlog has returned.

Question to folks: is topic reply notification a feature you want/need?

Just want to clarify that before I go to the lengths to fix it, which will require some extra work.

I hate it and have it turned off.  Honestly, IMHO, if you're really interested in a topic, you'll come back to it w/o the notification.

I keep it turned off as well.  I visit OC.net more often than I check email so I'd rather just check things I'm involved in here than go through email.

I like Topic Reply Notification.

But yesterday there was a problem in that the Notification was 1 or 2 hours late.  So I found when I clicked on the link in the e-mail that it took me to posts which I had read anyway.

Apart from that (I guess temporary) hitch, I think Topic Reply is a good thing
