I ask that you pray for me. After over forty years, I stopped smoking three days ago (this will be the sixth time I've quit -- pray that this is the last). I'm better today. I have been in what can only be described as a murderous mood the last two days, so if I have bitten, I am extremely sorry. Also, the puppy was diagnosed with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada-Like Syndrome, an auto-immune disease in which the immune system attacks pigment cells. Her retinas detached and she is blind, and will remain blind. She is doing extremely well -- it's amazing how quickly and bravely she is adapting -- but it's very hard on us, and I would appreciate your prayers.

And may everyone have a very blessed Holy Week and Pascha!

Lord have mercy!

All the pets in my immediate family died in the last two weeks. It's been hard on my sons.  I feel for you.

My grandmother quit after 50 years of smoking, and added a decade to her life. It can be done!  My father didn't, and died at the ripe old age of 51.

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth

Learn from your dog.

Yes!! I recently had to "put down" a beloved 16-year-old cat (who had more intelligence than many people I know) due to cancer. Yet, Mistress, despite her otherwise justifiable sense of feline superiority, never complained, even though she would have been in quite some discomfort, despite the medication she was on to help with relieving her pain and inflammation.

Critters seem to bear infirmities with far more equanimity than us humans. A quite humbling observation.
